FAQ
What it does, what it costs, how selling works, and what happens to your readers’ data. If something is missing, ask — that is usually how a question gets onto this page.
You upload a PDF or a set of images and get a flipbook — a book that turns like a book — hosted on its own page. You can share that page, embed it in a site you already have, or put a price on it.
Link to this answerA PDF, or images as JPEG, PNG or WebP. Images become pages in the order you arrange them. There is also an HTML route for books built as web pages rather than scanned ones.
Link to this answerNo. The Free plan runs the whole flow — upload, publish, share, embed and sell — with 1 GB of space and up to 100 pages in a book. Nothing is a trial that expires.
Link to this answerMinutes for most books. A long one with heavy scans takes longer, because every page is rendered rather than embedded as a PDF. The dashboard shows progress and tells you when it is ready.
Link to this answerUp to 100 on Free, 400 on Pro, and 900 on Pro+ and MAX. The cap is per book, not per account — how many books you make is bounded by space instead.
Link to this answerYes. You can replace individual pages or re-upload the whole book without changing its address, so a link you have already shared keeps working and nobody has to be told about a new one.
Link to this answerYes. A private book is not in the Gallery and is not readable by a link alone — it opens only for you, and for anyone who has bought it. Its files are stored separately from public ones.
Link to this answerYes, from a set of templates you can type your own words into. The cover designer is available from Pro upwards; every plan can still upload its own cover image.
Link to this answerThe old one stays where it is, and readers who own it keep it. Anyone about to buy the older edition is told a newer one exists, and anyone who already owns one is shown what upgrading would cost them.
Link to this answerCopy one line of embed code from the book's page and paste it where you want the book. It works in any site builder that accepts an iframe, and it stays responsive without you setting a height.
Link to this answerNo. Embedding is on every plan, including Free, and there is no cap on how many sites a book is embedded in.
Link to this answerA public shelf of books their creators chose to list. Submitting is optional and reviewed before it appears; a book that is not in the Gallery is still readable by anyone with its link, unless it is private.
Link to this answerNot today. A book has a MotusPage address and an embed; the embed is how it appears on your domain. If you need the address itself to be yours, tell us — it is a decision, not a limitation nobody has thought about.
Link to this answerYes, on any plan including Free. You set a price, the reader pays on the payment provider's own secure page, and the book unlocks in their library. Selling is not held back for a paid plan.
Link to this answerMotusPage takes 20% — of what is left after the payment provider's fee, never of the list price. The exact figure depends on how the buyer pays, so the selling page works it out in front of you rather than printing one number.
Link to this answerYour share is recorded the moment a sale completes and becomes payable 5 days later, once the refund window has passed. It then goes out in the next batch as a bank transfer to the account on your profile.
Link to this answerNo, and there is no fee for being paid either. An eligible balance is an eligible balance. What you do need is your bank details filled in under Profile — until then earnings simply accrue.
Link to this answerA refund is only possible while the money is still with us — inside the 5-day window. It comes off your pending balance. Once the transfer has gone, the sale is final and nothing is ever taken back from you.
Link to this answerNo. A book somebody has bought cannot be hidden or removed — the control refuses. Their access has no path to being revoked except a refund they asked for.
Link to this answerSpace, bigger books, more books per day, the creator tools, and how far back your analytics go. They do not buy the right to sell, to embed, or to be in the Gallery — those are on every plan.
Link to this answer1 GB on Free, 10 on Pro, 30 on Pro+ and 70 on MAX. Space is what bounds how many books you keep; there is no cap on the number itself.
Link to this answerYes — 5 a day on Free, up to 80 on MAX. It bounds how much conversion work one account can queue at once, and almost nobody meets it.
Link to this answerNothing. Books you have already published are not hidden, deleted or touched. An over-quota account is simply blocked from creating more until it is back inside its space.
Link to this answerAll-time totals are always all-time. The detailed range is what varies by plan, and your dashboard labels the widest option with the retention your plan actually has rather than a rounder number.
Link to this answerNot in the way that word usually means. No analytics vendor is involved, no cookie is set for measurement, no IP address reaches the application and no referrer is stored. What is kept is counts — reads, how far into a book people got, roughly where they were.
Link to this answerNo. Payment happens on the provider's own page; MotusPage is told whether it succeeded and nothing else. There is no card data here to leak.
Link to this answerYou. A book that is private is not in the Gallery, not readable by link, and its files live in a separate, non-public store.
Link to this answerYes — write to us and it is done, along with your books and files. Sales records are kept where the law requires, without the book content attached.
Link to this answerA question nobody can find the answer to is our problem, not yours. Write to us and it usually ends up on this page.
