What we collect, what we deliberately do not, and who else is involved when you use MotusPage.
An email address, so you can sign in and we can reach you. A display name of your choosing — the one we create for you is deliberately neutral (user_ and part of your account id), never derived from your email, so signing up does not publish your address anywhere. Optionally an avatar, a time zone, and bank details if you sell.
Counts, not people. How many times a book was opened, roughly how far into it readers got, which country and device class the reads came from, and the hour of the reader’s own local week. No IP address reaches the application, no referrer is stored, and nothing recorded can be resolved back to an individual.
No analytics vendor. No advertising or tracking cookies — the only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in. No card numbers: payment happens on the provider’s own secure page and we are told whether it succeeded and nothing more. No selling of anything about you or your readers, to anyone, in any form.
Our hosting and database providers store the data on our behalf. A payment provider handles card payments and holds its own record of them. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture — and nothing else about your account. Each of these is a processor acting for us, not a party we share data with for their own purposes.
Your books and account data for as long as your account exists. Detailed analytics are trimmed on a schedule that depends on your plan; all-time totals stay. Sale records are kept where the law requires them, without the book content attached — a refunded sale still has to be accountable 5 days later and years later.
A copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion of your account and its books. Write to us and it is done. Some records survive deletion where keeping them is a legal obligation rather than our preference, and we will tell you which.
