Legal
What you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. Short, because a clause nobody implemented is a promise waiting to be broken.
You keep every right you had in what you upload. We store it, convert it and serve it so people can read it, and we do that because you asked us to — nothing more. We do not claim a licence to use your books for anything else.
Work you have the right to publish. Not someone else’s book, not material that is illegal where you or your readers are, and nothing designed to harm a reader’s device. Books submitted to the Gallery are reviewed before they appear, and anything that breaks this can be removed.
You set the price. We take 20% of what the buyer actually paid, after the payment provider’s fee — never of a list price nobody paid. There is no charge for being paid and no minimum you have to reach first.
See it worked outA sale can be refunded while the money is still with us — the 5-day window before it becomes payable. After the transfer has gone the sale is final; nothing is ever reclaimed from you. A refunded reader loses access to the book.
If someone buys your book it remains in their library. You cannot hide or unlist it afterwards — the control refuses, deliberately — and neither can we, short of a legal obligation. Publishing a newer edition does not remove the one they paid for.
Ones being used to publish work that is not theirs, to attack the service, or to defraud buyers. Suspension is recorded with a reason, and you can ask what it was.
Uninterrupted service. Things break, providers have outages, and we will not pretend otherwise in a document nobody reads. What we do promise is that your files are not casually deleted and that an interruption is not a reason your buyers lose what they bought.
You can close your account at any time and take your files with you. If we ever have to close the service, creators get notice and time to export, and buyers are not left holding nothing.
